Election Campaigns: A Study!

Nothing on earth is immortal, not even the earth herself because she was born too - irrespective of the birth process. There are political boundaries on earth made by people where several governments run in their own styles and usually think themselves above the natural government. It is up to you to decide if any government on earth is seriously above the natural government. But coming back to the governments run on the earth, I felt it interesting to discuss the election campaigns - birth processes for the governments, in terms of Investment, Knowledge and Politics.

Few months back, I heard a dialogue in a movie- Election campaigns are the investments made by the politicians and it is their every right to think about their returns from it in every way possible. This changed my perception on politics. If the politicians take election campaigns as their investments, the ones who will suffer the most will be public. It is an untold truth that the money for the election campaigns come from the major/minor business houses and then prices of products go up to make up that money, facilitated by the campaigners. But then, what becomes most humorous is that politicians deliver in their speech that it is a tradition worldwide that prices increase during election but don’t speak about the origin of that tradition.

The electoral discussions Barack Obama and Mitt Romney had might be fresh only in many minds talking specifically about the education policies, taxation policies- as economy was going through bad times, health and insurance policies. The reflection of their knowledge regarding their country and their policies were awesome. Getting back to our electoral campaigns, the parties have their activities- constructing a railway line from east to west, attaining the economic growth of 7 percent, making Nepal Switzerland in 10 years and making her one of the developed nations in 20 years, using the remittance of the country in productive sectors, flourishing the investment environment…How? The procedures are not there.

The knowledge level of our leaders got public last week when in a television program, politicians from all three major parties were asked about the cost of construction of railway line. Nobody had an answer to that; rather they still kept blaming each other on to why no further work with the railway projects could take place- that must be a way to switch the topic though. Besides that, no individual explains how the ambitious growth rate of 7.0 % is going to be attained. Why our leaders do not want to develop Nepal and leave it as Nepal only is another point to ponder, is it true that Nepali people want to develop the country and make it some other country?

Economic Development with investment of politicians, politics within all system added with trifling knowledge of leaders has been the strategy in Nepal.
